William Pryor was born March 5, 1952 to Brawley and William Pryor in Pittsburgh Pa. William was an only child, who was affectionately known as “Billy” or “Bill Pryor”.
Although an only child, Bill had many cousins. He was raised in Philadelphia, Pa with his close cousins Iris, Beverly and Barbara, who Billy simply called “Bunny and the twins”.
Billy loved to travel and visit with family in New York and other states.
Billy truly enjoyed being with his family. Holiday dinners at his favorite Aunt Mae’s house were special to him. Although no one else ate them, she always made sure Billy had his pot of Chitlins.
Billy loved wearing his favorite color red and going out on Saturdays to dance. Sunday night oldies and Butterball was his jam! He often quoted James Brown, saying “It costs to be the Boss!” And he would add that HE was the Boss of the Hot Sauce!
Billy spent a large part of his adulthood with Horizon House, where he was able to live independently despite his Intellectual dis-ABILITIES. He worked everyday at PEP until his retirement.
Later as Billy’s health declined, Bunny and the twins ensured that he continued to feel loved and cared for by visiting, calling and connecting with him until his passing on August 18, 2026.
Billy is preceded in death by his mother and father. He leaves to mourn a host of cousins in Philadelphia, Pa; New York, and North Carolina. He also leaves to mourn his Horizon staff, who over the years have become his family.
