William P. Gebhard, SR., 86, of Pennsburg, passed away on Thurs. Jan. 7, at his residence. Born in Phillipsburg, NJ he was the son of the late Walter and Grace (Etter) Gebhard. He was a graduate of Phillipsburg H.S. class of 1942. He attended Bordentown Military Academy on a football scholarship and later graduated from the University of Miami in FL. He retired as a Field Security Officer for Manufacturers Hanover Consumer Services, Inc. He also opened and operated the former Ritter Loan Co. located in Pennsburg. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII and was a purple heart recipient during the Battle of Tinian. He is survived by his three children; William (Diane) Gedbhard, Jr. of Flippin, AR., Doris Anne (Jay) Zingley, of Macungie, PA., and Richard W. Gebhard of Perkiomenville, PA. Former daughter-in-law Patty Gebhard of Green Lane, PA and 7 grandchildren. He will be laid to rest at Washington's Crossing National Cemetery. Services and Int. are private.
