Esbiornson
February 4, 1931 – December 4, 2023
William H. Esbiornson (Bill) of Coatesville, PA and previously of Upper Darby passed away on December 4, 2023. He was 92 years old. Born February 4, 1931 in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late George Albin and Liberta (Smith) Esbiornson. Beloved husband to the late Mary Ann (Rice) who passed in 1984.
He graduated in January, 1949 from Overbrook High School in Philadelphia and joined the Air Force in February 1951. He served in Korea as an Aircraft Mechanic with a rank of Airman 2nd Class and was honorably discharged in January, 1954. Bill worked at Philadelphia Electric Company in their Meter Shop from March 1954 until 1994.
Bill attended church from a young age. He attended Calvin Presbyterian Church in West Philadelphia, and after getting married he lived in the Stonehurst Hills section of Upper Darby attending J. R. Miller Presbyterian Church which is now Crossroads Presbyterian Church. He also attended Cornerstone Presbyterian Church and since 2007 he attended the Forks of the Brandywine Church in Glenmoore. He was a deacon, trustee and elder over the years. He also along with Mary Ann went on youth retreats as the cooks. They even cooked a banquet meal a few years for the Upper Darby High School Marching Band.
Bill was an avid fisherman enjoying fly fishing, deep sea fishing and using his specially made rod to surf fish from the beach in Harvey Cedar, NJ. He also enjoyed going to Marsh Creek and the reservoir to fish.
After moving to Spring Run Estates in Coatesville, PA in 2002 he purchased a scroll saw and spent his days carving many wood pieces. His most beloved creation was a 3D Nativity Scene (pictured above) which he gifted to over 100 people throughout the years.
Surviving Bill are William T (Caroline), Janet Conley (Scott) and Susan Mondrach (Dustin). He also has 4 granddaughters that call him "PopPop," Sarah Conley, Sayer Mondrach, Rennie Mondrach and Mieran Mondrach.
Besides his parents and wife Bill was preceded in death by his son John and brothers Charles and Robert.
A service of remembrance will take place at The Forks of the Brandywine Church 1648 Horseshoe Pike Glenmoore, PA. 19343 at 11:00 am on Friday, December 22, 2023.
In lieu of flowers donation can be made to The Forks of the Brandywine Church.
