Vera M. Byrne, 96, of Middletown Township, formerly of Drexel Hill and Philadelphia, died on February 18, 2013 at Riddle Hospital in Middletown Township. She was the daughter of the late Robert G.K. and Caroline (Casani) Byrne. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth M. Flanigan (John); and her brother, Robert J. Byrne (Elizabeth Boyle). Vera was a graduate of St. Leonard's Academy and Drexel University. She was employed for 45 years by Pennwalt Corporation and became an assistant secretary of the corporation. After her retirement, she volunteered for 20 years for the American Cancer Society. She is survived by her niece Jane F. Chobert (John); nephews Robert J., Joseph F., and William J. Byrne; grandniece Carrie Grau (David); grandnephew Eric Chobert; and great grandniece Paige Grau. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30AM on Monday, February 25, 2013 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 63rd Street & Lancaster Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19151. A visitation with the family will precede Mass from 9:30AM to 10:30AM at the church. Inurnment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon.
