Valda Ausma Arste passed away in her home in Philadelphia on Thursday, August 27, 2015. She was 93 years old. She was born in Baldone, Latvia to the late Janis and Emilija (Lapins) Smitchens and was the beloved wife of the late Karlis Arste, who died in 2011. Mrs. Arste is survived by her son Vitolds Didzis Arste and his wife Martha Swan of Westport, New York, two grandchildren, Christian and Xavier Arste; one great granddaughter, Mariela; and one sister Guna S. Mundheim; a niece, Susan Mundheim and a nephew, Peter Mundheim. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 11AM at The Oliver H. Bair Funeral Chapel, 8500 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation with family from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM in the Chapel. Interment will immediately follow in Montrose Cemetery, 8504 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082.
