Susan Rice's Obituary

Susan Rice, of Philadelphia, passed away peacefully at Chestnut Hill Lodge on November 9, 2020.  She was 63 years old.  Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin E. and Elizabeth A. (Carney) Johnson.
She graduated from Walter B. Saul Agricultural High School and Mount Ida Junior College, where she majored in education. Susan wanted to be an elementary school teacher.  She served in the United States Air Force and married Warren Rice, Sr.
Susan enjoyed drawing, volunteering, listening to music, walking, reading the Bible, and going to Atlantic City.  She loved animals of all kinds, riding her bike around the drive and was very good with Children.  She  had a wonderful love for her church and wanted everyone to welcome God into their life.  She was also very involved with the Feed the Children Foundation.
She is survived by her only son, Warren "Calvin" Rice, Jr., of Philadelphia; one granddaughter, Milan Noelle; two sisters, Alice Benae and Jane Elizabeth; nephew, Brandon Marquise; favorite cousin, Barbara Jordan; and a host of other cousins and relatives.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at The Oliver H. Bair Funeral Home, 8500 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082.  A visitation will precede the service from 10 AM to 11 AM at the funeral home. Interment private. Masks and social distancing are required.
