Sharon Jones, 74, of the Overbrook section of Philadelphia passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.   Born on January 24, 1950 in Philadelphia she was the daughter of the late Josephine Jones, and longtime companion of the late Lester Haynes, Sr.

Sharon was a lifelong resident of Philadelphia and was a graduate of Overbrook High School. Sharon worked as a teacher's assistant at Cassidy Elementary, where she impacted the lives of many young children. She would later go on to further her education by attending and graduating from St. Joseph's University. Sharon's generosity was unmatched and she was always willing to donate to the less fortunate and those in need. She was dedicated to her community, always willing to lend a helping hand, and was an advocate for mental health and wellness.  She spent over 20 years working for Community Behavioral Health in Philadelphia until her retirement.  In her spare time Sharon enjoyed shopping for the latest fashions. She was also an avid jewelry collector, and had a passion for artwork and home decor.  Most of all, she cherished the time that she was able to spend with her family and was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, and a dear friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.  She will be missed by many.

Sharon is survived by her loving son, Bryant Jones, daughter-in-law, Kirsten Jones; four beloved grandchildren, Jazmine Townsend, Brielle, Bryce, and Breece Jones. She also leaves behind her first cousins, George, Vanity, Kim, Deneen, Kevin, and Andre, along with a host of extended family and friends.

Sharon was preceded in death by her beloved son, Shawn Jones, her brother, Jonathan Jones, her Nana Maggie Houser, her Aunt Dolores Rumph, and her best friend, Ann Allen

Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral service for Sharon on Saturday, August 31, 2024 beginning at 10:00 AM at the Higher Ground Church International, 7860 Eva Street, Philadelphia, PA 19128. The family will receive relatives and guests at the church from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM prior to the service.
