Mr. Robert Hugh, Sr., 80, of Philadelphia, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2011 in Darby, PA. He is survived by his two daughters Toni Latimer of Philadelphia and Cynthia Rochelle Butler of Edgewater Park, NJ, his two sons Robert Hugh, Jr. of Wynnewood and David Hugh of Philadelphia, six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Mr. Hugh was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and lover of all sports in general. He loved nothing more than to sit in front of his TV and watch the games from the comfort of his home. He also was an avid, and voracious comedian, he enjoyed making others laugh and engaging his friends and family in humorous stories, observations, and experiences. He also had a love of work, performing plumbing, heating, electrical and other repair work well up until about a year ago when his health made it more difficult. Then he used his knowledge to educate and advise others in the art and science of home repair. Dad, known in the community as a reliable handyman, was always ready to lend a hand to help someone having a repair need. Bob, as he was most affectionately known , was a fiercely loyal and devoted friend to those who knew him well. He cared deeply and protected his long-time neighbors and friends. Bob was also very involved and loving father to his 4 children, even when they became adults. He took great pride in their successes and was readily available when he was needed for advice, support, or just a listening ear. His hard work ethic set an example for his family and friends. Bob's behavior demonstrated loyalty to family, friends, and neighbors. When he was confronted with the possibility of moving, he found it difficult to leave behind his dear neighbors, being concerned for their well-being. He was always very grateful for any acts of kind words or deeds that were bestowed upon him. A funeral service celebrating Mr. Hugh's life will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 11am at Antioch of Calvary Chapel, 4721 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19139.
