Patrick Joseph
“Pj” O'Malley
August 26, 1988 – October 26, 2024
Patrick Joseph "PJ" O'Malley of Allentown and formerly of Ardmore passed away peacefully at home on October 26, 2024 after a sudden illness. He was 36 years old. PJ grew up in Narberth and is the beloved son of Mairead "Maura" O'Malley and the late Thomas Patrick O'Malley.
PJ was proud of his Catholic education and his strong faith was central to his life. He loved Philadelphia sports and weathered the highs and lows of being a devout Eagles fan. He loved college football, teaching card tricks to his nieces and nephews, memories of the annual Turkeybowl, and simply playing any pick-up sports game with his family and friends.
PJ was happiest at the beach, especially with his loved ones. He had a unique ability to quickly connect with everyone, and his friendly disposition resulted in strangers quickly becoming friends. His smile was infectious and he will be remembered for his light-hearted nature and frequent jokes.
PJ had a strong work ethic throughout his entire life. Even at a very young age, he was industrious and found ways to earn money and apply his talents. PJ loved his job as an 18-wheeler truck driver. His calm and peaceful disposition served him well in navigating all types of weather, conditions, and locations. He loved the community of friends who became family through his work. We all gained a mighty advocate who exited this world too soon and took the highway to heaven, the destination we all hope to achieve one day.
In addition to his mother, Maura of Cochranville, he is survived by his siblings, Jude, Marykate, Thomas (Joanna), Anne Schenendorf (Greg), John, Brian (Lauren), Gerard (Norma), Timothy, and Brendan, as well as his cousin Bill, who was like a brother to him, and his faithful mentor, Jesus "Joey" Perez. His many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and family will all miss him dearly. He is predeceased by his father, Thomas Patrick, and baby Gerard Schenendorf.
Relatives and friends are invited to PJ's Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at St. Denis Roman Catholic Church, 2401 Saint Denis Lane, Havertown, PA 19083. A visitation will precede Mass from 9:30 am to 10:50 am. Interment will immediately follow Mass in St. Denis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Padre Pio Center in Barto, PA: padrepio.org, or the National Alliance on Mental Illness: NAMI.org.
