Michael J. Myers died on July 1, 2009, of melanoma in Philadelphia, He was the loving husband of Nancy, proud and loving father of Greg and Jen and Jen's husband Jake Wells, Grandpa Joe to beautiful granddaughters Emily and Kate Wells. Michael, born in Sterling, Illinois with degrees from U. of Illinois, 1963 BSEE, George Washington University Law School, and a MBA from Harvard Business School. After marrying Nancy in 1966, he worked in Philadelphia for Woodcock and Washburn. He then moved to JH Whitney in NYC, and Smith Barney (NYC). After leading and then spinning out the venture capital arm of Smith Barney, renamed First Century Partners, Mike helped develop many startup companies, and joined the boards of many successful firms. He was a long time member of the board of directors of Office Depot. Mike was a co-developer of Cat Island in Beaufort, SC, which he loved. He dedicated hi mself to his career in investment banking while developing his passions for golf, opera, Shakespeare, and learning. He was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity, the New York City Harvard Club, Springdale Golf Club and the Nassau Club (Princeton, NJ), Secession Golf Club and the Sanctuary Golf Club (B eaufort SC) and the Union League in Philadelphia.
