Mary Ellen (Vajdic) Gontaryk, of Upper Darby, passed away peacefully at the Hospice of Philadelphia on Friday, December 21, 2012. She was 63 years old. Born in Kansas City, KS, Mary Ellen was the loving wife of Gregory B. Gontaryk. Mary Ellen worked in social services. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two daughters Melisa Caroselli (William) and Heidi Mastrothanasis; two sons Christopher Gontaryk and Christian Gontaryk; three grandsons Steven, Joe, and Bill; four sisters Sandra Dull (John), Victoria "Vicky" Jacques (Ted), Ruth Ann Swannell (Charles), and Joan Elgin (Gary); and one brother Paul Vajdic. She is also predeceased by her daughter Jennifer Helen Gontaryk; sister Jennifer Merrill; and brothers John Vajdic and David Vajdic. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10AM on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at St. Alice Catholic Church, Copley Rd. and Walnut St., Upper Darby. A visitation with the family will precede Mass from 9AM to 10AM at the church. Interment will immediately follow in Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield.
