Marian P. (nee Groff) McCole, of Ridley Park and formerly of Upper Darby, passed away at Taylor Hospital on May 27, 2020. She was 85 years old. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Martha Graff and beloved wife of the late Vince McCole.
Marian earned her college degree while raising her children. She worked as a nurse until her retirement, but she never really retired in life. She continued to work as a receptionist and as a volunteer. She aided fellow seniors in nursing homes and senior centers and chaperoned various outings. She had a desire to try new things and was talented with her hands through sewing, crocheting, and ceramics. She leaves behind many personal pieces she had a hand in creating and in the many lives she touched.
She is survived by her
two sons, Edward "Vince" McCole (Nancy) of Upper Darby and Dennis E. McCole (the late Debbie) of Tinicum; two daughters Cathy (McCole) Miller (Ken) of Quakertown and Bernadette (McCole) Palasch (the late Corey) of Ridley Park; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. In addition to her mother and husband, she was predeceased by her infant son Leo, her sister Martha Shaffer, and several nieces and nephews.
Due to the pandemic and current restrictions on public gatherings, funeral services and interment in Montrose Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested in Marian's memory to St. Laurence Roman Catholic Church, 8245 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082
