Karen M. Smolens, of Upper Darby, passed away with her family by her side on April 1, 2021.  She was 64 years old.  Born in Darby, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Donahue) Gould. She was the beloved wife of Jon Smolens for 34 years.

Karen worked at Delaware County Memorial Hospital as a medical records supervisor.  She was a terrific dog Mom to Madison and the late Marley and Moose.  Karen loved flowers of all kinds and spending time with her family and friends.  She was also the proud winner of the 2020 peanut growing contest!

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her brothers, Joe Gould (Maureen), Tim Gould (Beth), Mike Gould, (the late Ingrid), and James Gould (Kathy); sisters, Linda O'Neil, Susie Jordan (Tim), and Tricia Gould; in-laws, Jill McKinney, Jackie Taylor (the late Jack), and the late Jaymie Smolens; and known as Aunt Karen or Aunt Doll to her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
