Joseph Gerard Monaghan, of Atlantic City, NJ, and formerly of Upper Darby, PA, passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 20, 2016. He was 55 years old. Born in Darby, PA, he was the son of the late John and Rosemary (Stutz) Monaghan.

Joe served his country as a private in the United States Marine Corps. He also worked as an independent contractor in Atlantic City and Upper Darby. Joe was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan throughout his life.

Joe is survived by his one daughter, Jennifer Rose Monaghan, of Lewisburg, PA; ex-wife, Paula Gardner, of Lewisburg, PA; one brother, John "Jack" Monaghan, of Upper Gwynedd, PA; two sisters, Maureen Monaghan, of New York, NY, and Rosemary Monaghan Giangiulio, and her husband Daniel, of Sewell, NJ; five nieces, two nephews, one great niece, and five great nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday, March 28, 2016 at The Oliver H. Bair Funeral Home, 8500 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082. Interment will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joe's name are requested to the Atlantic City Rescue Mission, PO Box 5358, Atlantic City, NJ 08404.
