John J.
Thourot
October 23, 1949 – December 22, 2009
John was a member of the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam where he played a significant part in the battle that was to become known as "Hamburger Hill". John was one of only fifty survivors of the battle out of approximately two-hundred soldiers. The articles appropriately labeled John as a hero. He suffered substantial wounds and was awarded the Purple Heart.
John worked in construction and also worked for Robert P. Snyder, Esq. in King of Prussia for a number of years.
John was happiest when riding his Harley-Davidson and watching his family grow. His daughter, Angeline, was unmistakably the apple of his eye. Friends and family were everything to John.
John is survived by his mother, Dorothy Thourot, fianc, Carla Courtney, daughter Angeline Barnes (Mike), grandchildren Maggie and Brian Cupitt, step-daughters Colleen McNamara and Maureen Ballman, stepson Jim McNamara, and step-grandchildren Michael and Brandy Ballman, Connor McNamara, and Meghan and Kerry Barnes.
Services will be held Tuesday, December 29th at 11am at Holy Martyrs Church, 120 Allison Road Oreland, PA 19075. Interment will be private.
Arrangements are by Monaghan Funeral Home, 612 Main Street, Red Hill, PA.
