Joanne (White) Thornton passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 12, 2024.  She was 77 years old.  Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Phillip Thomas and Bernice (Williams) White.  She was also the loving wife of the late Samuel Tyrone Thornton.

Joanne worked as a remittance clerk for Wells Fargo until her retirement.  She will be dearly missed by her beloved children, Nicole Bilal, Tarone Thornton, Michael Benjamin Philip Thornton, and Dawud Bradley; grandchildren, Nashyia Cotton and Khadafy Bilal; many nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family members who loved her. In addition to her parents and husband, Joanne was predeceased by her brother, Carlton White, and her sister, Victoria White, both of which she loved dearly.

Interment will be on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM in Ivy Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia.
