Joan H. Hummel, 83, of Philadelphia, Pa., and Palm Beach, Fl. passed away peacefully at Temple University Hospital of Philadelphia on July 20th surrounded by family members. Mrs. Hummel was married for 57 years to Dennis Hummel. Together, they built their family business, Metropolitan Reporting Bureau, in 1957, have two children, Holden Hummel (wife Betsy) and Victoria Kreider (husband Torsten), and two grandchildren (Holden Hummel Jr and Maxim Kreider). Mrs. Hummel was also survived by her brother Alan (Lanny) Holden and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Hummel grew up in Yeadon, Pennsylvania, was President of Alpha Sigma Pi sorority at Temple University, served as the President of Metropolitan Reporting Bureau since 1957, and spent many memorable [times] in Philadelphia, Palm Beach, Florida and Ocean City, New Jersey. Mrs. Hummel's passions were her family, friendships, Scrabble, crossword puzzles, dining, shopping, conversing about the news, and reading. She was an active member of several charities and was supportive of organizations such as the Friends of Rittenhouse Square and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 22nd at the Union League of Philadelphia at [5:30- 8:00pm].
