Joan Yates Gallagher Carroll's Obituary
Joan Yates Gallagher Carroll was born in Philadelphia on June 18, 1933. Her parents were Dr. Daniel Yates and Katherine Wookey Yates. Joan graduated from Mt. St. Joseph's Academy and from Chestnut Hill College, both in Philadelphia. She majored in Speech and Drama. She sang and played the piano beautifully.
She married John Gallagher immediately after college and they had nine children. One of them, Daniel Gallagher, predeceased her. She is survived by John Gallagher and the other eight : Kate, Alice, Elizabeth Manai (Orlando), Germaine Fountain ( John), Cecilia Roan (Timothy), Eileen, Michael, and Ruth. She also has eleven grandchildren.
She and Frank Carroll met again in 1997 - they had been friends since their college days. They married in 1999, and had joyous years together.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 PM on Monday, January 18, 2016 in the chapel at St. Joseph's Villa, 110 West Wissahickon Avenue, Flourtown, PA 19031. A viewing will precede Mass from 12 Noon to 12:30 PM in the chapel. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Conshohocken.
