Janet Cecelia
Himmons
February 24, 1965 – January 29, 2026
On February 24, 1965, in Philadelphia, PA, Janet Cecelia was born to the late Vander Harrison Jr. and Elizabeth Marie (nee Harris) Himmons. Janet was the youngest of Vander and Elizabeth's three daughters. She passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026.
Janet received her education in the Philadelphia Parochial School System having graduated from Our Lady of Holy Souls in 1979 and received her high school diploma from Little Flower Catholic Girls High School in June 1983. Janet entered the workforce after high school and started working at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a Customer Service Representative. Through the IRS, Janet made many lifelong friends who became like family that have preceded her in death. She worked at the IRS for 25 years until she became disabled retired.
Janet was a social butterfly. She loved to be on the go, have chat and chews with family and friends, hosting parties for any occasion, and going to various restaurants. When Janet's niece, Sharee Felisha was born, she became like Janet's daughter. Janet was often seen with Sharee in her early years and remained like a second mother through the end. In her late teens/early 20s, Janet met Kenneth Jerome Trogdon (also known as "Rock") and they began a relationship. Janet's pride and joy, Mercedes Angelique, was born from their union. Janet always made sure Mercedes, Sharee, and their friends were happy. She would take them to the mall, out to eat, and day trips to Atlantic City with her mother as well. Janet was happiest spending time with family, friends and bonus kids, shopping, and enjoying good food. She was on the go until her sickness consumed her. Janet was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in April 2022 and battled until the end.
Janet leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Mercedes Angelique, sisters Mary Elizabeth (Barry) and Vanessa Marie, her niece Sharee Felisha, her great nephews, Abdul Fataah and Nassir-ud-din, and uncle Richard (Jennie). A host of bonus kids, family members, and friends will also cherish Janet's memory. She was predeceased by her mother Elizabeth Marie, her father Vander Jr., her grandmothers Elizabeth and Mary, grandfathers Edward Sr. and Vander Sr., aunts Alice, Patricia, Cecelia, and Helen, and uncles James, Douglas, George, and Edward.
Sorrowfully submitted,
The Family
