Obituary

The Rev. Jacob Black “JB” Adams III, of Narberth, PA passed away peacefully on September 24, 2026 at the age of 91. Born in Uniontown, PA, he was the son of Jacob Black II and Alice Adams (Minor), and the loving husband of Mary Lou Adams (Hoag).

He attended Maryville College, Princeton Seminary, University of Pennsylvania. JB served churches in Scranton, PA, Binghamton, NY, Executive Director of Community Celebration, Phila. PA, and served many churches in Philadelphia and surrounding areas.

“JB” served on the board of many organizations. He has been a member of Concordia Lodge, No.67 F.&A.M. for many years and has served as Chaplain of the Lodge in the past.

“JB” loved helping others 24/7.

“JB” was recognized by the Presbytery of Philadelphia for 65 years in the Lord’s Service!

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, William Adams; step-children, Carol Cooper (Ronald), Dawn Poltrick (Victor), and Walter Anderson; step-grandchildren, Ralph (Laura), Dawn (John), Kristine (Jerry), Leah (Steven); step-great grandchildren, Jason, Alexis, Nikolai, Madelyn, and Gavin.

“JB” is preceded in death by his twin brother, Charles and his sister, Martha.

He will be deeply missed by family and friends and those who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 17th at 2:00 P.M. at Ardmore Presbyterian Church, 5 W. Montgomery Ave., Ardmore, PA 19003
