Gary W. Brazell's Obituary

Gary W. Brazell, 73, of Boothwyn, Pennsylvania, passed away on November 22, 2025. Born on November 8, 1952, in Chester, Pennsylvania, Gary lived a life marked by intellect, humor, and a deep love for both his family and his many passions.

Gary's early years were rooted in Chester, where he attended Resurrection School before graduating from Salesianum High School in 1970. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree from Widener University (first graduating class under that moniker) in 1974. During his time at Widener, Gary distinguished himself not only academically but also athletically as the Captain of Widener's Golf Team—a role that foreshadowed a lifelong excellence in the sport.

Professionally, Gary built a successful career as a financial analyst with Elwyn, Inc., where his analytical mind and thoughtful approach made him a valued colleague. But it was outside the office where Gary's vibrant personality truly shone.

A world-class golfer and billiards player, Gary was known for his unmatched swing and ability to run racks with ease. Those who had the pleasure of watching him play often remarked that he was the best they had ever seen. His competitive spirit was balanced by a generous heart—he shared his love of sports by coaching the girls' Mikey Vernon softball team, sponsored and coached teams in The Men's Media Basketball and Pure Game Basket leagues. Encouraging others to find joy in the games he loved so much.

Gary's interests extended far beyond athletics. A devoted reader and lover of science fiction, he approached life with curiosity and wonder. Conversations with him were never ordinary; he had a gift for making people think deeply while laughing heartily. Whether discussing books or exploring an occasional conspiracy theory, Gary brought insight and levity to every exchange. His humor was infectious—whether you spoke with him for two minutes or two hours, you were guaranteed to laugh.

Above all else, Gary cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Gloria (Borrero) Brazell; his daughter Andrea (Brazell) Arndt; husband David Arndt; and his granddaughter Kira Arndt. He also leaves behind his dog Lucy; brother Thomas Brazell (Denise); sister Marietta Madison (Steve); nephews Ryan Brazell (Sarah), Ethan Brazell (Melisa), Jason Dantonio; niece Jessica Tindall (David); as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews who will remember him fondly.

Gary was preceded in death by his father William Brazell; mother Frances (Orobono) Brazell; and sister Christina O'Brien. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Burial is private.
