Francis J. McKeown, of Ridley Park, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, December 23, 2017. He was 85 years old. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Samuel J. and Mary Elizabeth (Kohler) McKeown. He was preceded in death by older sister Mary Elizabeth (McKeown) Chabanuk and twin infant brothers. He was also the beloved husband of Anne E. (Hutton) McKeown for 64 years.
Francis proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He also worked as an electrician at Mare Island Naval Base, Vallejo, CA and retired from there in January 1980. He worked as an electrician at Bridger Coal Company for approximately 15 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Samuel of Tampa, FL and David McKeown, of Ridley Park, PA; five daughters, Frances Gould, of Florence, MA, Jean Fields, of Ridley Park, Sharon McKeown, of Atlanta, GA, Lois Magner, of Liberal, KS, and Laurie McComsey, of Riverton, WY; and his niece Arlene Chabanuk, of Boothwyn, PA; 23 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren.
A funeral service celebrating Francis's life will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Prospect Hill Baptist Church, 703 Lincoln Avenue, Prospect Park, PA 19076. A viewing will precede the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the church. Interment will be in Montrose Cemetery, Upper Darby.
