Jr.

Floris "Junior/Jay Jay" Jones, Jr. was born in Philadelphia, PA on Monday, July 13, 1953 to the late Mary and Floris Jones, Sr. Floris departed this life on Monday, October 7, 2024 in Chestnut Hill Hospital surrounded by his one and only son.
Floris was educated in the Philadelphia School System. After which, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he was honorably discharged.
Floris met his wife, the love of his life, Veleda Broaddus, in 1973. From this union one child was born, Jermaine.
Floris had a zest for life. He wanted to know all, be all, and do it all. In wanting to be known as a cool dancer, Floris would reach out to various family members on the weekends to learn the latest dance moves.
Floris was a hard worker. He held jobs such as a yellow cab driver. He worked for the United States Postal Service and his father's trucking company. He also briefly owned and operated a janitorial service.
Floris retired in 2015 and continued to enjoy life. He hung out with his brother, played cards and dominos. He loved to watch his favorite TV shows, Matlock and Perry Mason basically METV (lol).
Floris' health started to decline when he had a stroke in 2017. Floris continued to push through his illness with the help of family, caregivers, and a bunch sarcasm.
Floris was predeceased by his brother, Ernest Jones.
Floris is survived by his wife, Veleda Jones; his son, Jermaine Broaddus; stepdaughter, Marlene Broaddus; stepson, Gregory Campbell; daughter in-law, Vera L. Broaddus; one granddaughter, Shakera Broaddus; two grandsons, Bryant Nix and Kayin Nix; one great grandson, Ezra Nix; three nieces, Tanya Hanna, Ruby Cook, and Ebony Smoak; two nephews, Jamal Jones and Ernest Saeed Jones; and a host of family and friends.
