Ellen Cole Miller, of Philadelphia, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at her residence. She was 80 years old. Born in Evanston, IL, and raised in Winnetka, IL, she was the daughter of the late Gerard McL. and Ellen (Schultz) Cole. She was also the loving wife of the late David T. Miller, who passed away in 1993. Ellen attended Wellesley College and received her Bachelor's degree in zoology from the University of Wisconsin in 1954. Ellen also earned a certificate in medical illustration from the University of Illinois Medical School and completed a fellowship in medical illustration at the University of Pennsylvania. Throughout her life, Ellen worked as a medical illustrator, realtor, restoration contractor, and historic preservation activist. She was also an active board member of the American Red Cross, Independence Hall Association, Preservation Coalition and Head House Conservancy. She also accomplished extensive world travel.
