Elizabeth J. English's Obituary

Elizabeth J. English, of Clifton Heights, passed away on December 7, 2022 at Aventura at Pembrooke in West Chester.  Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Jane (Bales) Swan.  She was also the beloved wife of Robert L. English.

Elizabeth was a stay-at-home mother who possessed the kindest heart. She loved people, sharing stories, and staying active. She enjoyed many hobbies including crochet, needlepoint, and sewing.  She even made all of her children's clothes when they were small. She was an excellent baker, who made the best apple cakes and cookies, and a voracious reader, who enjoyed Mary Higgins Clark's novels. She was an animal lover and always kept company by one of her five cats. She was also a member of many coffee clutches, card groups, and a local bowling league.
Elizabeth had many friends along the years, but no one could match Barb. Her parents and brother, Albert, Jr., filled her heart with so much love and joy. When they passed she missed them dearly.
Elizabeth's grandchildren were some of her greatest blessings. When her first grandchild, Danae, was born her world was bright again, then along came more children to love, Jami, Emma, Paige, Dawson, Gavin and Kate. In addition to her husband and seven grandchildren, she is survived by her daughter, Christine English (Julie); and two sons, David English and Robert McIvor.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Monday, December 12, 2022 from 10:00am to 11:00am at the Oliver H. Bair Funeral Home, 8500 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082.  A prayer service will follow in the funeral home at 11:00am.  Interment in Glenwood Memorial Gardens, Broomall.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Elizabeth's name are requested to the Brandywine SPCA: https://bvspca.org/donate/.
