Elfriede Ilse (Schubert) Scherf, 103, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 24, 2019 at Phoebe Wyncote, her home for the last 18 years.  Born in Chemnitz, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Hedwig (Ahnert) Schubert.  She was also the beloved wife of the late Rudolph Scherf.

As a young woman, Mrs. Scherf worked as a secretary in the medical insurance industry.  After she married, she was a full-time homemaker.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting, crocheting, and sewing.  She was a lover of classical music and opera.  She is survived by her loving daughter, Christine Lavorgna, and Christine's husband, Gregory, of Havertown; and two granddaughters, Stephanie and Cynthia.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday, July 13, 2019 from 11:00 AM to 12 Noon at The Oliver H. Bair Funeral Chapel, 8500 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082.  A funeral service will follow at 12 Noon in the chapel.  Interment private.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mrs. Scherf's name to Phoebe Ministries, c/o Phoebe Wyncote, 208 Fernbrook Ave., Wyncote, PA 19095, and should designate the Phoebe Wyncote Benevolence Fund as beneficiary.
