Edwin A. Velten's Obituary

Edwin A. Velten of Lansdowne passed away at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital on March 12, 2025. He was 92 years old.  Born in Morristown, NJ, he was the son of the late Edwin and Katherine (Gaston) Velten.  He was also the longtime partner of the late Ann K. Tridemas.

Ed often reminisced about his childhood in Toms River and Long Beach Island, NJ, where he made fond memories fishing, boating, and causing mischief. He was an avid athlete throughout his high school and college years. He proudly served in the United States Marines Corps and was recruited to play for the Marines Corps baseball team. After his military service, he joined the Graphic Communications International Union and worked as an engraver and color specialist in the printing industry.  In his later years he enjoyed gardening in the condominium community and carefully outlined his garden plan every spring.  He was a huge sports fan and enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams, the Boston Celtics, St. Louis Cardinals, and Cleveland Browns.

Ed is survived by his stepchildren, Hilary Tridemas (Mark Lyons) of Wallingford, Marta Williamson (Peter) of Philadelphia; and Matthew Tridemas (Joyce Ejdaharian) of Broomall; four grandchildren, Andrew Lyons (Marie), Walker Lyons (Stacie), Tessa Lyons (Nathaniel Feldman) and Mia Labna (Ramy); and five great-grandchildren, James and Abigail Lyons, Wesley and Tommy Lyons, and Noura Labna; sister, Kathryn Velten Rawls of Richmond, Virginia, sister-in-law, Jean Velten of Princeton, NJ; and niece, Gemma Farrell (John).  He was also predeceased by his brothers, Richard and Robert Velten.

Funeral services will be planned for a later date.  Arrangements entrusted to The Oliver H. Bair Co.  (610) 449-8585
