Dorothy F. (Bitting) Walbert, 91, of Red Hill died at her home on Mon., Jan. 31, 2011. A long-time Upper Perkiomen Valley resident, Mrs. Walbert was born in Pennsburg and lived in Red Hill for the past 64 years. She was the daughter of the late Elmer and Bessie (Seisholtz) Bitting. She was predeceased by her husband James Kenna in 1951 and her husband Ernest L. Walbert in 1991. She was also predeceased by her daughter Dorothy Jean (Kenna) Freed in 1996. Mrs. Walbert worked at Pillsbury as a cleaning matron for 15 years and retired in 1974. She was also an active member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pennsburg, served as the secretary of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Upper Perkiomen Sportsmen Associations for 23 years and was still active in the Golden Age Club, where she served as secretary for 14 years.. As a breast cancer survivor, she walked in Relay for Life until she was 87. Mrs. Walbert is survived by her grandson Michael S. (Linda) Freed and her son-in-law Richard Freed both of Red Hill. A funeral service will be held on Fri., Feb. 4, 2011 at 11AM at Monaghan Funeral Home, 612 Main Street, Red Hill, PA. A viewing will precede the service from 10AM to 11AM. Interment is in St. Mark's Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mark's Memorial Fund, 81 Main St., Pennsburg, PA 18073. Arrangements are by Monaghan Funeral Home.
