Dominick Feralio's Obituary

Dominick Feralio Sr. was born in Philadelphia on February 24th1929. He married Catherine Nuciglio in 1950. They had four children: Dominick, Stephen, Barbara, and Michael. Catherine died in 1973 and Dom was remarried in 1981 to Anne Adams who had two daughters: Sharon and Dianne. He worked for Plumbers Union Local 690. He was a man whose life was changed by the word of God and was outspoken about his faith in Jesus. If you met him even casually you might possibly find yourself in a conversation about important issues such as life, death, sin and eternity. A plumber by trade and a meticulous one at that, one might not expect such topics to be on his mind and lips. He would be quick to remind you that the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight, not to insult you or to condescend, but rather to hold out the Word of life to those unaware of the good news. A faithful husband and father, he would be the first to admit he was far from perfect. But he knew a perfect savior. He loved his family and we loved him. It just felt right to be around him. His advice was straightforward and he would not impose it on you, but it was always wise to give serious consideration to his words. Helping others with his time and talents did not seem burdensome to him. Whether plumbing, automobile, garden tips, or even math problems, he was more than willing to lend his expertise and a helping hand. If you were short on rent money and were not prepared to receive a generous gift, then silence was required. If Dom found out about your shortfall, the rent money would be in your hand before you could refuse. Trying to pick up the tab at a restaurant with him was impossible. That was unacceptable. One of his great joys was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We would all laugh as he would play the harmonica or get down on the floor to play. He loved gardening and over the years we were privileged to witness some spectacular gardens decked out with vegetables and flowers in all their magnificent colors. Beds of green, red, yellow, and brilliant purple and pink adorned both the front yard and garden area. And who would think of starting seedlings in the back seat of his car? Another hobby was making birdhouses. The colors and designs were numerous and I'm sure birds were honored to settle down in one of his special shelters. Bowling was another love - his high game being 279! Traveling occupied much of his life after retirement. Whether by train or car, he and Anne made the journey as much fun as the destination. We will miss him dearly and all the laughs and wonderful conversations that came with knowing him. God has chosen to take Dom to be with Him and will welcome him into His eternal kingdom. "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
