Arnold Marks of Philadelphia passed away on October 29, 2023. He was 88 years old. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Moses and Bess (Mayoff) Marks. He was also the beloved husband of Santa A. (Florko) Marks.
Arnold graduated from Atlantic City High School and the University of Miami.
He was very proud of his work as a lifeguard in Atlantic City for many summers. Arnold really loved the ocean and spending time with friends in the sun.
Arnold owned Laurel Meat Packing Company with his partner for almost 30 years until his retirement. He also went to electrician school.
Arnold was a published writer of his autobiography "Diary of a Philadelphia Meat Man". He wrote and published many short stories and poetry in local newsletters and magazines. He loved music, the arts, and traveling. Arnold had a love for Spain, wine, and cigars. He was a devoted Philadelphia Phillies fan, loved ice cream and owned a hat for every occasion.
In addition to his wife of 40 years Santa Ann Marks, he is survived by his sister Eleanor Brodsky-Goodman, son Dani Marks (Ivy), daughter Laura Shyner (Frank) and daughter Darcy Campisi (David). He was predeceased by his former wife and mother of his children Judith Allman Marks Boudreau along with extended family. The family enjoyed many holidays together for many years and will miss him dearly.
His grandchildren include Kenan Marks, Vincente Campisi, Dominic Campisi, Morgan Shyner, Kira Marks, Shelby Marks and Evan Cho.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the to the Atlantic City Rescue Mission (http://acrescuemission.org). Arnold Marks always gave to charities and people in need and he will be remembered as a kind, loving and generous man.
